New Patient Information

Welcome!

York-Med Dentistry continues to accept new patients. Whether you’d like to entrust your routine oral health maintenance to us or you have a specific concern or emergency, please reach out to us to see how we can help.

Our clients appreciate the quality of work of our experienced staff. Our clinic often has immediate availability. To accommodate those who are unable to come during regular office hours, we are open on the occasional Sunday. And on Mondays and Tuesdays, our office is open until 8pm.

What to expect on Your First Visit

For a first-time oral hygiene (cleaning) visit, York-Med Dentistry requires new patients to see both a hygienist and dentist. The hygienist will perform a cleaning, and a dentist will perform a complete oral exam (COE). A complete oral exam (COE) is a comprehensive record-taking of your teeth and other structures inside the mouth. Xrays are often taken at this time to reveal any deeper findings that cannot be seen clinically. A COE will reveal areas of concern that require further treatment, and it also forms the basis for the long-term of monitoring your oral health. Expect this first visit to be 1.5 to 2 hours in length.

If you have an emergency or specific concern, you will be seen by a dentist who will conduct a specific exam. During this exam, the dentist will inform you of any relevant clinical findings to find out what may be behind your concern. Xrays might also be necessary to see beyond what can be seen clinically.

We will discuss treatment options with you following a COE or specific exam to address areas of concern. Often it might be to simply continue your regular oral maintenance. We encourage you to discuss your concerns with us at any time. Your well-being is our utmost priority.

Records Transfers

You are entitled to request xrays from your previous dental care providers. You may request them directly from your previous provider then send them to us, or you may sign a form at the office and we will make the request on your behalf. Please consider sending in any xrays prior to your first appointment so they may be considered during your exam.

Insurance Plans

York-Med Dentistry accepts most extended dental coverage insurance plans. We can submit a request for reimbursement to your insurance company on your behalf following your appointments. For your peace of mind, upon your request, we may assist you in confirming the details of your extended dental coverage. Furthermore we may also send pre-determination (pre-approval) requests for certain procedures prior to proceeding with treatment.
